I was originally referred Dowis Vision Therapy because I was having depth perception problems. I would be driving down the street and couldn't tell which stop light was closest to me. That's an extremely scary experience not only for me but for everyone else driving on the road with me.
Since starting the therapy things have changed completely. I no longer have issues with depth perception. I can see what cars, signs, and lights are closest to me! My peripheral vision has also improved. Being more confident in what I'm seeing and seeing more of what's around me has made me a better driver. I'm not as hesitant about driving in downtown Denver anymore because I'm sure that what I see is what's really there.
Along with the improvements on the road, I've had several improvements elsewhere. I am not near as clumsy as I used to be. I used to just be walking down the street and trip over my own feet and now I can't remember the last time I did that. I also don't knock things over as much.
My experiences reading books and the computer screen have changed too. I can read faster and for longer periods of time. I don't have to reread everything to comprehend it either. I also don't loose my place while reading as often. This is something I'm sure that will continue to improve too now that I know the tools.
My stress level has also dramatically reduced in the last couple months. It's amazing how a few "eye exercises" can change a person's perspective on life. Even when stress seems to be coming into my life, it seems to be coming into my life, it seems to dissipate faster than it used to.
Probably the most dramatic change I've experienced is in my headaches and migraines. I grew up with constant headaches, most of which I recently realized were migraines. I would have headaches anywhere from 3-7 days a week, depending on season and stress in my life. Two weeks into vision therapy, my migraines stopped completely. I have had a few minor headaches, but those are normally fixed with the acupressure exercises that were given to me at the beginning of the therapy.
I would recommend vision therapy to anyone. It dramatically changed so many parts of my life that it's hard to remember what things were like before. Whenever I walked into the office, I felt like I was part of a family. The people I met and lessons learned there will stay with me the rest of my life!
Would you recommend this service to others? YES!!!
